In honor of National Margarita Day, I thought I would share my Margarita recipe. I created this a couple years ago when I was looking for a fresher cleaner margarita. It has since become a favorite addition to Taco Tuesday.
Since I usually make just one margarita for me, this recipe is for one but it is very easy to multiply or simply make each person their own custom margarita.
- 1 shot Tequila
- 1 lime, juiced (1 shot worth of juice)
- 2 shots honey simple syrup (recipe below)
- Prep time: 3 min
- Servings: 1
- Difficulty: easy
To make the margarita, it is as simple as mixing the tequila, lime juice and simple syrup and serve over ice. You can get fancy and shake it in a martini shaker, or simply stir it up in your margarita glass.
I used to make a full batch of simple syrup and keep it in the refrigerator but I have since gotten very good at making just enough for one so that it is fresh. I fill a glass pyrex measuring cup with 1/4 cup water and boil it in the microwave (it boils in less than a minute). Then I dissolve 2 tablespoons honey in the hot water and add a couple ice cubes and stir so that it quick cools. This makes the perfect amount of simple syrup for one margarita. If you plan on making multiple margaritas, follow the full recipe below.
Honey Simple syrup
1 cup water
1/3 cup honey
Heat water to boil (microwave or stove) and dissolve honey in hot water. Cool before use.
For my fresh lime juice, I found this tool to be so helpful at making this recipe even easier. I just squeeze the lime straight into my glass.
I hope you enjoy!
